We will be meeting at our main office at Sherman Heights Community Center at 10:00 AM (subject to change). From here we will distribute donations between cars and carpool over the border to various shelters. Please specify whether you would like to be a passenger or a driver in your sign-up form. If you are signing up as a passenger please keep in mind that it is not 100% guaranteed that there will be availability in other cars. Also please bring $5 - $10 to give the driver for gas money.
Before we head across the border, our Caravan leader, Hugo, will usually say a few words. We suggest you bring some water and snacks for yourself because the day usually ends up running long. And of course, don't forget your passport!
It is most likely that your car insurance for driving in the United States is not valid in Mexico. You can simply and quickly purchase coverage for the day through AAA.
Also, please keep in mind when you are visiting these shelters, these are peoples' homes. So please use respect and tact, especially when photographing. Make sure you ask someone's permission before taking their picture, and particularly parents' permission before taking a picture of a child.
