The Pleasures of Versailles. The palace of Versailles was conceived by King Louis XIV during the 1660s as a residence and royal pleasure dome which assumed monumental proportions, becoming increasingly important as a center for music. The distinctive elegance and beauty of the French Baroque peels back the curtain on the decadent magnificence of the Sun King's playground. We welcome special guest and distinguished performer on viola da gamba, Catharina Meints.
