The USD Music Department presents a 3 concert Mariachi Showcase. Thursday evening the violinist Sergio Caratachea (of Mariachi Internacional Guadalajara) and his friends will perform. On Friday the USD Mariachi Ensemble (aka Mariachi Toreros de USD) directed by Serafin Paredes and the best high school mariachi ensembles in the Southland and nationwide, will compete to perform in the Professional Mariachi Showcase on the following evening. Saturday evening is the grand finale concert featuring the phenomenal Mariachi masters Mariachi Los Reyes and the winning ensembles from high schools selected from the showcase on the previous evening.
