The 31st Annual San Diego International Jewish Film Festival returns to with a wide range of films including, documentaries, narrative feature films, comdedies, biographies, historical films and films about current affairs and issues as well a special online presentations and events. Please note that Limited-Time Screenings have specific dates of availability and a shorter time to view. All other films, with the exception of Private Screenings, are On-Demand throughout the duration of the festival

Sexual Barter in Times of Genocide: Reflections on Sexual Violence, Agency, and Sex Work with Anna Hájková.

What is everyday life, and how is it experienced under extreme stress? This is the broader question that animates the research of Anna Hájková, an associate professor of Modern Continental European History at the University of Warwick. In her talk, Hájková¡ examines sex work, sexual violence, and coercion of Jewish women and men in concentration camps, ghettos, and in hiding. She is the author of many journal articles and books, including her current project, "Boundaries of the Narratable: Transgressive Sexuality and the Holocaust." This pioneering study seeks to contribute to our understanding of gender and sexual violence during the Holocaust and explores the erasure of narratives of gays and lesbians who were deported as Jews and who subsequently vanished from the historical record.

Foreign Language Film Night Series will screen the following films for the general public in The Languages of SoCal mini-series. Each film will be followed by a discussion with a San Diego university/college faculty and a neighbor about cultural aspects of the film and their immigrant experiences. The discussion will last about 30 minutes and include a Q&A open to all participants.

1982 - During the 1982 invasion of Lebanon, an 11-year-old boy tries to tell a classmate about his crush on her while their teachers try to hide their fear of the conflict.

Miriam Miente (Mirium Lies) - Miriam doesn't know how to explain to her family that the boyfriend she met online is black.

Love is War - In this Nigerian comedy, sparks fly as a husband and wife both win the nominations as the candidates of the two major parties in an upcoming gubernatorial election. Will their marriage survive this unprecedented event?
Niyi Coker, director of the School of Theater, Television, and Film at SDSU, and Ihuoma Nwaogwugwu, competency engineer for 3D printing at HP, and lead actor Richard Mofe-Damijo.

April 28 -
Innocence Based on a real-life story, this South Korean film focuses on Ahn Jung-in (Shin Hye-sun), a lawyer who decides to defend her mother after she is wrongly accused of killing someone at her husband's funeral.
Insook Kang, Korean instructor at SDSU, and Jimi Kim, South Korean film expert and lecturer.

Presentation on the contributions of Black scientists by Dr. Runoko Rashidi -Part 1 of 2 Black scientists have launched us into space, discovered new disease treatments and developed world-changing technologies, yet the achievements and contributions of Black people in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields are too-often forgotten or unrecognized as a result of systemic racism.
