2021 San Diego Latino Film Festival
The San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF) is presented and produced by Media Arts Center San Diego. This year they will celebrate their 28th annual festival with in-person (drive-ins) and virtual screenings. The 11-day festival is aa celebration of Latino Cinema, Arts & Culture which will present over 100 films online online Latin America, the US, and abroad, as well as include live virtual Q&A sessions with filmmakers, and more.

Media Arts Center San Diego’s San Diego Latino Film Festival was established 28 years ago initially as a student film festival (Cine Estudantil) focusing on works by Latinos and/or about the Latino Experience. Since that time, the San Diego Latino Film Festival has developed into one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the world. Over 330,000 people have attended during the past 28 years and over 4,000 films/videos have been screened.

One Book, One San Diego for Kids Author Event With Cynthia Grady

11:00 am - Thursday, March 11

Join KPBS and the San Diego County Library to hear from the author of the touching story about Japanese American children who corresponded with their beloved librarian, Clara Breed, while they were imprisoned in World War II internment camps. Miss Breed was a children’s and city librarian with the San Diego Public Library from 1929-1970. Her collection of letters from the children are held at the Japanese American National Museum. Cynthia Grady, author of "Write to Me," 2020 One Book for Kids selection, uses excerpts from the letters to present a difficult subject with honesty and hope.

Student Q&A

This is a free virtual event open to the public that will stream live to the One Book Facebook page and to YouTube. Registration is encouraged since the viewing link will be provided in reminder emails closer to the event.
