Italy's South and North: Exploring History, Gaps and Misconceptions

4:00 pm - Saturday, May 15

Join SDSU Chair of European Studies Clarissa Clò and UCSD Professor of Italian Studies Pasquale Verdicchio in an exploration of historical causes and experiential observations on the relationship between Italy's North and South. Our panelists will share scholarly and experiential views on how inequities and prejudices between the two geographical realities have come to be. Pasquale grew up in Naples, in the south, and Clarissa in Modena, in the north, and both look at Italy from a diasporic position, as long time San Diego residents. Their reflections consider how South-North differences may be lived in Italy and then morph into new considerations when moving abroad to the United States.
