Gyedu Blay Ambolley is a musical luminary hailing from Ghana, West Africa, with a staggering 29 albums under his belt. Known affectionately as the "Simigwa Do Man,” Ambolley’s musical journey began in the vibrant port city of Sekondi -Takoradi, in the Western Region of Ghana. His early fascination with music blossomed into a lifelong passion. From mastering his father’s flute at the tender age of eight, to honing his guitar skills under the mentorship of “Uncle Bonku”, Sammy Lartey and Ebo Taylor, Ambolley’s musical odyssey has been nothing short of extraordinary. This all led to Ambolley becoming a musical life force and exploding on the scene in 1973 with a jazzy highlife sound called 'SIMIGWA -DO'. His name has become synonymous with Simigwa music and dance.
Coming of age amidst the zenith of Ghana’s highlife era, Ambolley emerged as a pivotal figure in its evolution, lending his talents to esteemed bands such as Houghas Extraordinaires, Meridians Of Tema and Ghana Broadcasting Band. It was during this time that he caught the attention of his compatriot and friend, Ebo Taylor, who recruited Ambolley to be a member of the Uhuru Dance Band. Sabrosas Latin Orchestra, San Diego’s first and only all -female salsa band and a 501(c)(3) organization, is celebrating five years of community, music, and fun in 2024. Founded after identifying a unique opportunity to unite as female musicians, the band brings a shared love of salsa and Latin music to audiences throughout Southern California. With a commitment to serving the community, Sabrosas partners with local schools through mentorship programs as well as organizations like the San Diego Latino Film Festival and San Diego Pride, enlivening the cultural landscape. Sabrosas is proud to have performed at venues such as Cafe Sevilla, the Belly Up, NAMM, and numerous community festivals. Looking ahead, the band is focusing on writing and recording original music, and of course, will continue to inspire and entertain, reinforcing their dedication to bringing Latin music to audiences of all ages.
Julian Marley is a British -Jamaican singer, songwriter, musician and son of late reggae legend Bob Marley. Raised with multi -instrumentalist skill in the UK, Marley moved to Jamaica in 1993 and began recording full -time with his brothers Stephen, Damian and Ky -Mani Marley. In 1996, he released his first solo album Lion in the Morning under Julian Marley and the Uprising, his touring band. His three subsequent releases, 2003’s A Time & Place, 2009’s Awake, and 2019’s As I Am, all logged Top 10 debuts on the Billboard Reggae Albums chart. The latter two also earned Grammy nominations for Best Reggae Album, while his 2023 collaborative effort Colors of Royal with producer Antaeus garnered Julian Marley’s first win in the category in 2024. Across his career, Julian Marley has toured extensively with his band The Uprising and collaborated on multiple tracks with Stephen and Damian Marley.

Sister Nancy, aka Muma Nancy, real name Ophlin Russell, (born January 2, 1962, Kingston, Jamaica) is a dancehall DJ and singer. She is known to the world as the first female dancehall DJ and was described as being a "dominating female voice for over two decades" on the dancehall scene. One of her most famous songs is "Bam Bam", labeled as a "well -known reggae anthem" by BBC and a "classic" by The Observer. Sister Nancy was one of 15 siblings. Her elder brother, Robert, is a very successful DJ and singer known as Brigadier Jerry. By her mid -teens, Sister Nancy performed with Briggy on the Jah Love Music sound system. After that, she worked for three years on the Stereophonic sound system with General Echo. In 1980, producer Winston Riley was the first to take her into the studio, resulting in her first single, "Papa Dean" for his Techniques label.
