The Del Mar Library is celebrating 30 years and has invited the Center for World Music to bring music to the festivities. Enjoy a free concert of music from Zimbabwe and Bali and, try your hand at playing instruments from around the world with our Musical Instrument Petting Zoo. 11:00 – 11:45: Mbira performance with Garit Imhoff. Following the presentation, audience members will be invited to learn a song on mbira, which is played by plucking metal tines with the fingers. 12:00 – 12:45: “Wayang Kulit” performance with the Jangkrik Punyah ensemble featuring Geoff Dent. Wayang Kulit features beautiful interlocking melodies played on Balinese gamelan instruments with bronze keys over bamboo resonators. 11:00 – 1:00: Musical Instrument Petting Zoo – a hands-on experience for musicians of all ages.
