San Diego?s cultural diversity will again be celebrated at the Ninth Annual San Diego Multicultural Festival on Saturday, January 13, 2007. The free event will feature a variety of food, entertainment and fun for the entire family. The festival takes place from 11:00 AM ? 5:00 PM, along the Martin Luther King Jr. Promenade on the north side of Harbor Drive between Market Street and Fourth Avenue, across from the San Diego Convention Center. The festival coincides with the Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade at 10 AM near Petco Park.
The popular festival regularly draws thousands of people, and this year, 25,000-30,000 people are expected to attend. A variety of activities will enliven the festival, including three stages featuring performers of various cultural orientations, international storytellers, plus food and merchandise vendors and representatives from local community organizations. New and exciting things to see in 2007 include, The Art Miles Mural Project, incorporating an extensive gallery of murals from around the world. The Art Miles Mural Project provides an innovative opportunity to capture the essence, heritage and spirit of a ?global village? through the creation of large-scale murals (12? x 5?). The festival will offer the first major presentation of these marvelous murals in San Diego. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the making of a mural. The Children's Museum/Museo de los Ni?os San Diego, together the San Diego Museum of Art and the Rad Hatter, will oversee an interactive children's area offering art activities and entertainment.
