Il Tabarro is the least-performed of the three operas in Puccini’s triple-bill Il Trittico (The Triptych). While companies frequently mount double bills of Suor Angelica and Gianni Schicchi, they usually overlook “Il Tabarro,” the first opera Puccini composed in the trio. In just one hour, you’ll be spellbound by the beauty and power of this music, whether you’re a devoted opera fan or a first-timer. That’s just half of the program, though. The band name "DOES" is derived from the word for a female deer (doe). Their raw energy quickly caught the attention of major labels in Tokyo, leading to their major debut with Ki/oon Records (Sony Music) in 2006. 2007 – 2010: Breaking into the Mainstream The band skyrocketed to fame with the single "Shura," used as the ending theme for the TV anime "Gintama," debuting at No. 9 on the Oricon charts. Their 2008 single "Donten" climbed to No. 3, becoming a massive hit with over 200,000 digital downloads—a rare feat for a rock band at the time. Her research and artistic practice merge traditional Japanese dyeing and weaving techniques with contemporary environments. Imafuku's scholarly work includes the historic revival of ancient purple dyeing methods—a complex, time-honored process she has recreated and exhibited internationally. Most people just think of one thing when they think of soul food, we want to provide the opportunity to expose folks to different types of cuisines while supporting local businesses, large and small. We are taking advantage of the opportunity to bring the local community together, but also provide exposure to different black owned eateries. General admission will provide you access to a variety of food vendors, entertainment, an interview with a book author and more! | 1:00 PM | Katazome Print Workshop Create katazome postcard prints and a mini hanging scroll using patterns designed by Japanese artisans. In this hands-on workshop, you will use Japanese pigment watercolor paint called "Gansai" and premium washi postcards from the long-established Kyoto washi shop "Kyukyodo" as your canvas. Using a delicate stencil pattern carved by traditional craftsmen, you will create one to three original postcard-sized works. After the workshop, you can take your finished postcards and a mini hanging scroll home.

That same spirit inspired them and acclaimed playwright Sam Chanse to draw on each of their personal stories to create The Family Album, a humorous and poignant original musical about finding and reclaiming your voice and using it for change. Commissioned by La Jolla Playhouse, The Family Album features a soulful power-pop score by MILCK and AG.
