Hostelling International USA, San Diego Council will be hosting the third annual "Peace-ing Communities Together" a Peace Building Conference for young adults, on April 10-11, 2010 at San Diego State University (SDSU).
The conference will connect young adults (ages 18-35), empowering them to make a positive impact on their local and global communities. Through interactive conversations and workshops, participants will discover their personal strengths, develop leadership skills, and create an action plan for the future.
On the first day of the conference attendees will participate in a World Caf? conversation to discuss and explore positive social change. The day will also feature speakers Sherehe Hollins and Starla Lewis, a mother-daughter team who believe in "elevation through creative education." An interactive workshop on cross-generational leadership will be also be presented by Young Nonprofit Professional Network (YNPN). Community service will be highlighted during the conference and on Sunday participants will take part in a local community service project.
Hostelling International USA, San Diego Council (HI-San Diego) is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit organization whose mission is to promote global awareness through travel. In addition to providing quality budget accommodations, HI - San Diego reaches out to the community through educational programs designed to promote cultural understanding and active global citizenship.
