27th Annual American Indian Art Market

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Every year, the San Diego Museum of Man honors its commitment to American Indian culture through its art market and - starting this year - a film festival. The three-day event has something for everyone: American Indian art, films, music, family activities, and cuisine. Artwork typically features jewelry, textiles, sculpture, baskets, pottery, paintings, and beadwork, in styles ranging from traditional to avant-garde. Artist demonstrations will take place throughout the weekend, both inside the Museum and in the outdoor California Plaza. Dawngreeter will provide Native American flute music. Tasty frybread and Indian tacos will be some of the cuisine available at food booths. On Saturday, kids can try their hand at making traditional crafts, such as abalone shell necklaces, seed bombs, or corn husk dolls. Or, they can play a Kumeyaay dice game. Art Market on the California Plaza is free, and family activities are included with paid admission to the Museum.
