Join Sandra Ainslie, Executive Director of The AjA Project for a discussion on PUTTING THE CULTURE BACK IN ?Arts and Culture.? This session will arm participants with management strategies for reframing the arts and creating a ?culture? of art. The participant will engage in discussion topics such as, What is the culture your organization want to be? How is culture reflected in your organization? Does it mirror the values and mission you claim to hold valuable? Explore these questions through a dynamic discussion and interactive session with the facilitator, Sandra Ainslie.
Sandra Ainslie, has worked in the nonprofit arena for over 10 years and is currently the Executive Director of the AjA Project, an organization working to empower displaced youth through participatory photography based programming. Ms. Ainslie is also a professional photographer and has done photography work for domestic and international nonprofit organizations, including the documentation of refugee camps in Uganda. Ms. Ainslie received her B.A. from UC San Diego in Cultural Anthropology and is currently working on an M.A. in Leadership Studies with a focus in Nonprofit Leadership and Management from the University of San Diego.
The talk is part of The University of San Diego's Office of Corporate and Professional Education's newly launched monthly CAF?+CULTURE Professional Development Series. The CAF?+CULTURE series aims to provide participants with insights and practical management skills that will be useful for organizations that develop, manage, sponsor and promote culturally diverse artistic projects, programs and services. The series include topics in Business Management Skills for the Arts, Achieving Successful Collaborations, Community Relations, and Intercultural Networking.
The guest speakers for CAF?+CULTURE will come from diverse multicultural organizations from the US and Mexico. The CAF?+CULTURE Professional Development Seminars will provide informal discussion setting where attendees will have the opportunity to network and learn from each others cultural initiatives. Guest participants includes Philip Lorenzo, San Diego Asian Film Foundation (APR), Sandra Aislie, AJA Project (MAY), Martin Wolleson, UCSD ArtPower (JUNE), Tom Johnston-O'Neill,The Worldview Project (and The San Diego Participant Observer)(JUL), Ronn Jessee, San Diego County of Education Visual and Performing Arts (AUG), Marion Scire, Classics 4 Kids (SEP), and Jazz Concert Ensemble by the Orchestra of Baja California (OCT).
