The Media Arts Center will celebrate the work of this year?s Teen Producers Project for a free screening of student films. For almost 10 years, Media Arts Center San Diego has helped change lives through film with the Teen Producers Project. The program has helped local high school students have a voice in their community via film production.
Fostering youth voices in the community, the Teen Producers Project partnered up with The People?s Post, a local initiative funded by the Knight Foundation and San Diego Foundation in partnership with Media Arts Center San Diego, VoiceofSanDiego.org, and the San Diego County Public Library. The People?s Post is a program that is helping San Diegans regain their voice in local news.
The teens were able to contribute to The People?s Post through the creation of 2-3 minute video profiles on a leader in the community that is doing great things for the community. Teen producers created the videos from start to finish, from idea to completion.
Students tackled a wide range of subjects that tackle issues that San Diegans are faced with everyday. From how the recession is affecting a local businessman to the struggle of a mother to give her kids the best education she could despite all odds, these video address subjects that many citizens choose to ignore.
In addition to the screening, the night will include a short recognition ceremony for the students as well as complementary food and drinks.
Admission: FREE
Location:
Counterpoint Wine Bar
830 25th Street
San Diego, CA
Thursday, June 3rd - 7:30 PM
