Mary Ann Downs leads Balkan singing, followed by regular international folk dancing.
Mary Ann was first introduced to Balkan music while living in Boston and became a member of the Cambridge Slavic Chorus for several years. She soon joined Laduvane, an all women?s Balkan a capella group, where she traveled across Canada and the West Coast performing as well as recording an album with them. In the late 80?s she settled in San Diego where she has been singing non-stop with the harmony groups Malaika, Harmonija, and now Eastern Exposure. ?Once you hear and begin to sing the incredible rhythms and harmonies of Balkan music, there is just no stopping!?
