Join Dr. Thomas Johnston-O'Neill founder and Executive Director, The Worldview Project (which publishes the San Diego Participant Observer) and Sociologist Jorge Riquelme, Executive Director, Bayside Community Center on Cross-cultural Community Engagement: A Dialogue for Art Institutions." This session will arm participant with management strategies on how to communicate effectively in the ethnically diverse audiences. Dr.Johnston-0'Neill and Prof. Riquelme will share work that has helped empower and connect culturally diverse communities in San Diego

Dr. Johnston-O?Neill is an anthropologist and Executive Director of The Worldview Project a local nonprofit educational organization. The Worldview Project's mission is to promote greater public interest in and understanding of world cultures and peoples. The organization's ongoing initiatives include; the development of the Cultures in the Classroom series of books for elementary school students, the online monthly magazine, The San Diego Participant Observer which dedicated to discovering and showcasing the wide variety of culturally important events, people, places and organizations found in San Diego, the web-based "World of Cultures" educational resource site, and is in the final planning stage its first "Cultures in Harmony and Motion" international music and dance concert. Dr. Johnston-O'Neill received his Ph.D. in anthropology from Princeton University and has held positions at several cross-cultural and academic organizations including; The Third World Teaching Resource Center at UCSC, Princeton-in-Asia (Program Director), World Learning of Brattleboro, Vermont (Academic Director), and Grossmont College (Adjunct Instructor).

Jorge G. Riquelme is a sociologist and the Executive Director of Bayside Community Center. Bayside Community Center's mission provides help to ease the struggle for many needy people who live in north central San Diego. Dr. Riquelme was the co-author of a grant and a research project carried out with the Center for Border and Regional Affairs at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM). This project was also funded through the Rockefeller Foundation. He has taught sociology at various Universities including San Diego State University, the Universidad Cat?lica Nuestra Se?ora de la Asunci?n in Paraguay, and at the State University of New York, Binghamton.
