Human Rights Watch Film Festival

For first time in its 21-year history, festival screens here. See "Enemies of the People" on September 23, in which filmmaker Thet Sambath uncovers "terrifying personal explanations for the Cambodian genocide by allowing the perpetrators to speak for themselves."

Camp Victory Afghanistan, showcased on September 24, draws "from nearly 300 hours of v?rit? footage shot between 2005 and 2008" to explore "the reality of building a functioning Afghan military." Screening followed by question and answer with filmmaker Carol Dysinger and documentary subject Colonel Michael Shute.

Festival concludes on September 25 with Iran: Voices of the Unheard. Film reveals "untold story of Iranian secularists through three characters, each from a distinct social, economic, and educational background but all sharing a need for a country free from political repression and theocracy." Festival passes available.
