The San Diego Dragon Boat Team and its sponsors will be hosting this event for the first time in the beautiful City of San Diego?s Mission Bay next to the Hilton San Diego Resort & Spa. There will be vendors set up on the grass adjacent to the shore, selling cultural artwork, food, and more.
The Dragon Boat Festival commemorates the life and death of the ancient patriot-poet, Qu Yuan, who lived from 340-278 B.C. during the Warring States period of China. Qu Yuan was a minister who advocated reforms in his home state of Chu. The King fell under the influence of other corrupt, jealous ministers who slandered Qu Yuan.
