Celebrate National Native American Heritage Month at this free event. Gordon Johnson, author of Fast Cars and Frybread will speak at 2:00 PM. Cathleen Chilcote Wallace will tell tales at 3:30 PM and there will be drumming, basketry, refreshments.
Gordon Johnson, a Cahuilla/Cupe?o from the Pala Indian Reservation, is a former newspaper columnist who now focuses on fiction writing and his growing family. Cathleen Chilcote Wallace is a Luise?o storyteller and a member of the San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians. Mel Vernon, captain of the San Luis Rey Band of Mission Indians, will make opening comments at 1:00 pm. Refreshments will be served.
