Sitar Concert for Haiti

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
A Sitar concert in the North Indian Classical tradition, benefiting the Nouvelle Vie Program of the International Association of Human Values's (IAHV's) programs in earthquake and cholera affected Haiti. The Nouvelle Vie Program includes training Haitian youth, transforming victims into agents of change by first restoring hope through IAHV's trauma relief programs (which have been carried out in many countries including after Hurricane Katrina, Pakistan Earthquake and floods, Sri Lanka, Indonesia and India during Tsunami, European floods and such) and then fostering leadership and responsibility to carry out service projects supported by the Nouvelle Vie Program including self reliance through food security gardens, local waste management, sexuality education workshops, and street children mentorship programs run at minimal cost by community volunteers. At the concert, there will be a brief introduction to the breathing and meditation programs and the community service activities carried out by the The Art of Living Center. The musicians are current Center for World Music artist-teachers in residence.
