One of the great global success stories of the past two years, Staff Benda Bilili has become an unstoppable force. Formed by a group of street musicians who used to live around the grounds of the zoo in Kinshasa, Congo?some of whom are polio survivors confined to customized tricycles?Staff Benda Bilili make music of astonishing power and beauty. The band?s mesmerizing rumba-rooted grooves, overlaid with vibrant vocals and extraordinary tin can guitar solos, have been dazzling audiences and media the world over. As part of the group?s first U.S. tour, ArtPower! has an opportunity to present not just an amazing performance, but an incredible story of music and art as a powerful source of inspiration and joy.
