For the first time in history, citizens recorded an actual revolution in real time. Throughout the 18 days of the 2011 uprising in Egypt, and in the year since, Egyptians have been filming pivotal events on their cell phones, taking pictures, texting, tweeting, and facebooking their extraordinary bid for freedom. A collaborative documentary film project, 18 Days in Egypt captures the events of this revolution in an interactive documentary website that co-creators Jigar Mehta and Yasmin Elayat will present to ArtPower! Film audiences. Part of the inaugural Sundance Institute New Frontier Story Lab, 18 Days in Egypt exposes the power of group storytelling in a thoroughly new way.
