Hutchins Consort has pursued an artistic path which envisions the future of chamber music. With instruments ranging from the tiny treble violin, tuned one octave above the standard violin, to the gigantic contra bass violin, tuned one octave lower than a cello, Hutchins Consort performs a diverse collection of works that include virtually every known musical genre. On November 2, the ensemble presents a troika of traditional, romantic and neo-classical Russian works. The program includes Balakirev's oriental fantasy Islamey, Tchaikovsky's poetic Serenade for Strings and Stravinsky's Pulcinella Suite.
