Olufela Olufemi Anikulapo Kuti (born 16 June 1962) popularly known as Femi Kuti, is a Nigerian musician and the oldest son of afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti. He created his own band Positive Force in late 80s with Dele Sosimi (Gbedu Resurrection), formal key-board player of Fela Anikulapo Kuti. In 2001, Femi collaborated on his album Fight to Win with a number of U.S. musicians, such as Common, Mos Def, and Jaguar Wright. Femi Kuti has blended funk, jazz and African folk to get back to the essence of Afrobeat in his seventh and latest album No Place For My Dream. Femi describes his Afrobeat style as music that makes people want to dance while helping them swallow the bitter pill of reality. Grammy nominated Femi, has collaborated with Common and Mos Def, and has also toured with Jane's Addiction and the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
