The San Diego Museum of Art presents a symposum on Beauty and Enlightenment: Looking at Jain Art. Participant and Keynote Lecturer expected to attend the symposium is Phyllis Granoff, Lex Hixon Professor of World Religions, Yale University.
Professor Granoff will explore remarkable examples of Indian art, and argue that aesthetic appreciation was a central factor in the development of images of worship in the Jain religion.
This symposium is cosponsored by the Commitee for the Arts of the Indian Subcontinent and the Asian Arts Council.
