San Diego's proximity to Mexico makes it a natural venue for this prestigious eleven-day film festival, focusing on works by Latinos or about the Latino experience. Established in 1993 as a student film festival, the San Diego Latino Film Festival has become one of the larger and well-respected Latino film festivals in the country. Directors, actors, and audience members will travel from around the globe to descend on San Diego for the eleven-day festival. A number of showcases help guide attendees through the diverse array of films being shown, for example CineGay shows gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender films, while Documania shows documentaries. With over 160 films in all, there's something to please every filmgoer.
