SnackBar is set in a metropolitan Rotterdam suburb, where the street is dominated by street kids. Daily life focuses around a snack bar, run by an older gentleman named Turk Ali. The snack bar serves as a refuge for the local Moroccan youth, teenage boys who have nothing better to do than hang around.
For these boys, Ali is an old and trusted Turkish uncle who is understanding and has a sense of humor, but is also strict. SnackBar is hard, humorous, tragic, fierce, and unpredictable as life itself.
