The Black Film Society of San Diego is having a one-night-only screening of Free Angela and All Political Prisoners directed by Shola Lynch. The film depicts the trial of civil rights icon, Angela Davis back in 1973. It is also the first documentary film to be released theatrically that has an African-American woman (Jada Pinkett Smith) as the producer and director.

Tugg, a new crowd-sourcing film distributor, is bringing the movie to San Diego. The way it works is that you pick the film you want to see, invite people to see it and if you have enough people who reserve tickets, then the film gets to screen.
