A historical exhibit illustrating women's foray into the male mariachi world in both Mexico and the U.S as curated by Leonor Xochitl Perez, Ph.D.,along with mariachi trailblazer Laura Sobrino and Nancy Munoz.
Trials and tribulations of the early pioneers of women mariachis and the evolution of all female groups into the present will be demonstrated through historic posters and costuming, music, film and artifacts.
A grand finale concert will be held outside on the grassy promendade at Liberty Station on Sunday October 13 at 2:00 PM featuring mariachi pioneer Rebecca Gonzales, Latin Grammy nominees Trio Ellas, Las Mujeres de Mariachi del UCLATLAN, Mariachi Las Colibri and an all star mariachi group composed of women who have influenced the role of women in mariachi music.
Admission/Cost: $5 - $3 (Seniors/Students), Members Free
