Please join the San Diego Diplomacy Council in welcoming the Honorable Nasimi Aghayev, Consul General of the Republic of Azerbaijan The Consul General will discuss current developments in Azerbaijan and the importance of citizen diplomacy. He will examine U.S. interests in the Caspian Sea region and deliver an overview of U.S.-Azeri relations.
About the Honorable Nasimi Aghayev: After joining Azerbaijan's diplomatic service in 1999, the Honorable Nasimi Aghayev served at the country's Embassies in Austria (2000-03) and Germany (2005-08), as well as in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Baku, capital of Azerbaijan. Mr. Aghayev served as the Counselor for Political and Public Affairs at Azerbaijan's Embassy in Washington, D.C. prior to his appointment by President Ilham Aliyev of the Republic of Azerbaijan as Consul General of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles. On April 10, 2012, the Consul General was appointed with responsibility for a consular district that includes California and twelve other western U.S. states. Consul General Aghayev holds a BA and MA in International Relations from Baku State University, and a Masters of European Law (LLM) degree from the Europa Institute of the Saarland University. He is also the author of the book Humanitarian Intervention and International Law: NATO Operations in Kosovo.
