Please join the San Diego Diplomacy Council for a conversation with Dr. Susan Shirk. Dr. Shirk is the chair of the 21st Century China Program and Ho Miu Lam Professor of China and Pacific Relations at the School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS) at UC San Diego. From 1997-2000, Shirk served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State in the Bureau of East Asia and Pacific Affairs, with responsibility for China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Mongolia.
This series will focus on China's new leader, Xi Jinping, and his direction for China. Dr. Shirk will address topics such as China's economic reforms, anti-corruption and ideological Mao Zedong era campaigns, and new efforts to manage relations with the U.S. and Asian neighbors.
