During the 9th to the 12th centuries, the Khmer kingdom built a large number of truly amazing temples in Northwestern Cambodia. This presentation will feature many photographs taken by Mr. Richter to illustrate the design, construction, and decoration of the most important of the Angkor temples.
The major elements of temple design will be explained, along with the religious significance of the elaborate and beautiful carvings that decorate the temples. We will explore a total of 17 temples, including Angkor Wat, Preah Kahn, and the Bayon.
