Music: Camarada Performs 'Flamenco Unveiled'

Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
Camarada peels away the layers of the mystery of flamenco and the intricacies of its travels originating in India and arriving in Andalucia in 1425. Fred Benedetti, guitarist, and Beth Ross Buckley, flutist, both with Camarada, in collaboration with Indian and flamenco dancer, Gloria Lanuza, perform this mysterious and mournful dance emanating from the rich cultural traditions of the Roma, Moors, Sephardic Jews, and Andalusians on the Saturday of Valentine's weekend. Author Zohreh Ghahremani will offer a reading of her Persian-inspired poetry to create an exceptional evening of music, dance, and the spoken word.

Additionally, Fred Benedetti will explore the history of flamenco and its regional modalities from its birth in India to its development in Europe, including Ravel's fascination with its exoticism in nineteenth century France.

Camarada's Gallery Series offers the ultimate sensory experience by combining hand-crafted wine, evocative art and eclectic music. Presented in the charming neighborhood of Little Italy, your evening begins with a curated wine tasting complimented by light hors d'oeuvres at the Meyer Fine Art Gallery. Following the musical program, you are invited to meet the artists.
