Festival: Filipino Parol Lantern Festival

The Parol is a star-lantern symbolic of the Star of Bethlehem that hung in front of homes during the holiday season. PASACAT shares the tradition with the community during this holiday festival.

Attendees will have a taste of a Philippine merienda of pansit (noodle dish), lumpia (egg roll), pandesal (sweetbread) and Philippine desserts. Performances will be given by the PASACAT Philippine Performing Arts Company, Marvin Calderon, Jr., Taupou Polynesian Dance Troupe, Miock Ji Korean Traditional Dance Academy of Los Angeles and others.

An open parol contest will be held and 6 winners to receive cash prizes of $20 to $150. Other activities include cultural and parol exhibits from PASACAT?s collections, parol making workshops, and pabitin (Philippine version of the pi?ata).
