Lecture: The Truth About Torture

The San Diego Chapter of the United Nations Association of the United States of America is sponsoring a lecture by Marjorie Cohn.

Cohn will lecture on the international torture treaty, U.S. Torture Act, the legality of torture performed on detainees, and the Senate Intelligence Committee Torture Report.

Cohn is a professor at Thomas Jefferson School of Law, former president of the National Lawyers Guild, Deputy Secretary General for Scientific Work of the International Association of Democratic Lawyers, and author of several books which include The United States and Torture: Interrogation, Incarceration, and Abuse; Cowboy Republic: Six Ways the Bush Gang Has Defied the Law; and Drones and Targeted Killing: Legal, Moral, and Geopolitical Issues. She has testified twice before Congress concerning the Bush administration torture policy.

Kathi Anderson, the executive director of Survivors of Torture, will also make remarks.
