Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
The San Diego School of Christian Studies presents an address by United Methodist Bishop Minerva Carca?o on the topic of Social Justice and the Immigration Crisis, primarily as pertaining to children in the sanctuary of First Church in Mission Valley.

The Bishop's presentation will be followed by a short panel discussion and audience Q&A. Info: (619) 297-4366.

As the first female Hispanic bishop elected in the nation's second-largest Protestant denomination, Bishop Carca?o has been an outspoken and prophetic leader in the United Methodist Church and across the nation on the topic of immigration. She brings a depth of expertise, wisdom, and faith to her own understanding of this national crisis along with a call to people and communities of faith to respond.

In March 2014, Carca?o was among 14 religious leaders who met with President Obama at the White House, where she was tasked with reaching out to Republican congressmen who were reluctant to tackle the issue. The San Diego School of Christian Studies offers seminary-level theological education to laity on the campus of First Church.
