The Lux Art Institute's resident artist program is displaying Kingston-born, Ebony G. Patterson's work that tells the untold stories of Jamaica through her self-described "shiney" mixed media works as she investigates the contemporary dancehall culture, and the construction of self within the bling and fabricated garments of the Jamaican working class.
The Lux Art Institute resident artist program not only brings internationally acclaimed art to Encinitas, but commissions new work from the artist while in residence here. Thus, when you visit Lux while the artist is in residence, you see work in the gallery and work in progress from the resident artist.
