The Filipino American Cultural Organization (FACO) will hold the 2015 Miss Fil-Am / Miss Teen Fil-Am Pageant with 18 of San Diego County's most beautiful and brightest young ladies vying for both titles and over $2000 in a prize package awaiting each winner.
Celebrity judges will include: Katrina Jayne Dimaranan, Filipino Fashion Model and Bb. Pilipinas Tourism 2012; Nichelle Medina, prominent San Diego Channel 8 (CBS) News Anchor; Kenneth Barlis, Filipino Fashion Designer; Patrick Dockry, CEO of ENJOY Professional Hair Care and Health, Beauty, Lifestyle Media; Dr. James Chao, noted San Diego plastic surgeon; Indira Hodzic, Director of Image SPMand; and Bonnie Bagley-Catlin, Award-winning Interior Designer and CEO of Signature Designs San Diego. The event will be hosted by Robert Santos, KGTV Channel 10 San Diego news anchor.
Now in existence for over 30 years, the FACO is a 501-C(3) non- profit organization whose platform is youth education and disaster relief. The organization provides scholarships to bright, intelligent young Filipinos both here and in the Philippines who otherwise cannot afford a good education.
In 2013, the FACO partnered with the University of the Philippines Integrated School in its Adopt-A-School project to rebuild and update classrooms at the UPIS. Currently, the FACO is in negotiations with Habitat for Humanity Philippines in a project to build a learning center in Tacloban for victims of typhoons Haiyan and Hagupit. Net proceeds raised from this event will go to the FACO to continue its mission.
