Pierfrancesco Diliberto (a renowned TV host and political comedian, better known as Pif) wrote, directed, and stars in this romantic comedy, a bumbling stumble through some of Sicily?s tragic recent history, a social critique that at once amazes and indicts. This film is ambitious even while it?s making you laugh. Our hero Arturo, growing up in Palermo and strangely attracted to Mafia stories while trying to impress the love of his life, becomes a reporter who somehow manages to be at the most important Mafia public moments in Palermo history, ending up with the ?Maxi Trials? and murders of judges and top cops. This film is a genre bender and a big hit in Italy (winner of the Audience Award at the Torino Film Festival). Living in a state of denial may make us laugh, but it also makes willful ignorance the great public sin.
