The Spreckels Organ Society and San Diego Civic Organist Carol Williams present the Centennial International Summer Organ Festival, an inspiring series of 11 concerts performed by world-class organists, demonstrating the fresh sound of the Spreckels Organ, even after 100 years of ongoing play. The Festival runs each Monday evening, June 22 through August 31, at 7:30 PM at the Spreckels Organ Pavilion at the heart of San Diego?s Balboa Park. Centennial International Summer Organ Festival concerts begin at 7:30 PM and are free of charge. The historic 1915 Spreckels Organ is the largest outdoor pipe organ in America and is soon to be the largest outdoor outdoor pipe organ in the world. The Spreckels Organ Society is in the final phase of completing the Drive to 5,000, a fundraising campaign and installation of pipes that will give the Spreckels Organ 5,005 pipes and ?world?s largest? status. ?The Spreckels Organ Society was the first to usher in the Centennial year of Balboa Park with a grand New Year?s Eve concert,? states Spreckels Organ Society President George Hardy ?and we continue to celebrate the glory of our Park and the Spreckels Organ with our finest Summer Festival yet. This year, we are pleased to invite the world to join us via our live concert webcasts. If you can?t make it to San Diego, we hope you will tune in and help us celebrate 100 years of the Spreckels Organ. All ages are welcome to all Centennial International Summer Organ Festival concerts as are music-loving pets on leash. Parking and admission are free. Light snacks, beverages and unique gifts are available on the pavilion grounds, and proceeds from donations benefit the nonprofit Spreckels Organ Society, working to preserve, program and promote the great Spreckels Organ as a world treasure for all people.
