Lecture: The Cosmology of the Kumeyaay

The San Diego Archaeological Center announces a unique lecture and hands-on program, My Uuyow: The Cosmology of the Kumeyaay," presented by Kumeyaay scholar Michael Connolly Miskwish. Miskwish will lead an enlightening discussion on the major seasonal and lunar cycles observed by the Kumeyaay people and how it related and still relates to their daily life.

After the discussion, Miskwish will lead an outdoor star gazing session where he will point out important Kumeyaay astronomical features and viewers will get an exceptional show of the Perseid meteor showers, which will be at its peak.

Personal telescopes and binoculars are welcome but not necessary for viewing. Flashlights, a light jacket and comfortable shoes are recommended. Mr. Miskwish will also have Kumeyaay calendar posters available for purchase.

Space is limited and you must register in advance. Spots are filling up, so book your ticket now!
