Uncategorized Download To My Calendar
This exciting lecture and tour series allows you to walk in the footsteps of Delfina Cuero, a remarkable Kumeyaay woman who relayed important information about her life to local anthropologist Florence Shipek. Her powerful and moving life story reveals both the hardships and joys of living a traditional life in rapidly changing times. She talks about a seasonal migration, moving from place to place throughout San Diego County and Baja, California to secure the necessities of life.

The series begins with an introductory lecture on August 29, 2015 at 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Each season throughout the year, you will accompany anthropologists and archaeologists to the places Delfina talks about in her autobiography. You will also receive a copy of "Delfina Cuero: An Account of Her Last Years and Her Ethnobotanic Contributions" by Florence Shipek.

On following tours, you will visit the sites Delfina mentions in her autobiography with local archaeologists and anthropologists providing a narrative. You will use your own transportation for the tours and carpooling is recommended. Each location will have adequate, safe parking.
