San Diego Repertory Theatre presents the West Coast premiere of My Ma?ana Comes, a complex drama about the American dream.
Playwright Elizabeth Irwin gives a behind-the-scenes look at the busboys who silently keep tables clean and refill water glasses at fine dining restaurants.
The play uncovers the economic challenges of four restaurant workers: Peter and Whalid, who are American born; and Jorge and Pepe, undocumented immigrants from Mexico. They bond and banter, show off and hide their secrets like only a team of laborers can. When a shocking event threatens to shatter their economic security, the need to take care of ?number one" first opens a giant and dangerous chasm between the brothers.
