Cinema @ The Balboa is a new film series at the Balboa Theatre showcases everything from classic and art house movies to documentaries and concert films.
Indie drama, "Quincea?era" is next in the series. The movie premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2006, where it won the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award.
Written and directed by Richard Glatzer and Wash Westmoreland, "Quincea?era" follows the lives of two young Mexican American cousins who become estranged from their families ?Magdalena (played by Emily Rios) because of her unwed teenage pregnancy, and Carlos (Jesse Garcia) because of his homosexuality. The teens move in with their elderly great-uncle Tomas (Chalo Gonz?lez).
