Professor Manal Swairjo is an Arab-American who grew up in Kuwait and moved to the U.S. at age 23 to pursue her dreams in science. With a lot of Star Trek and cowboy movies behind her, she thought she knew America when she landed in Boston in 1989, but life as an international student at Boston University proved otherwise. In this talk, Prof. Swairjo will shed light on the differences in public relations styles between the Arab and American cultures, and share her own challenges and breakthroughs in jumping over the cultural fence.
