Taiko is often used to describe the art of Japanese drum ensembles, but the word actually refers to the taiko drums themselves. Join UCSD?s Asayake Taiko to see what it takes to make music on these beautiful instruments. This interactive workshop is a family friendly event for adults and children ages 10 and up. Participants will learn about the art of taiko, simple taiko drills, and even a complete taiko piece. No experience is necessary and instruments will be provided.
Asayake Taiko is a student taiko group at the University of California, San Diego. They aim to promote cultural awareness of taiko to the greater San Diego area through campus events, public performances and educational workshops.
