Moxie Theatre stages "Brownsville Song, (B-Side) for Tray," a story about an 18-year-old boy who was shot in his New York neighborhood.

The piece was first presented as part of the Old Globe's New Voices Festival in 2015 and will now be given a full staging by acclaimed local director, Delicia Turner Sonnenberg. The cast includes Cortez L. Johnson, Jyl Kaneshiro, Alex Robinson, Zoe Sonnenberg and Sylvia M'Lafi Thompson.

The play, stripped of political rhetoric, tells the story of a family struggling to grieve their tragic loss, moving fluidly between past and present and exploring the family at their weakest and strongest moments.

The piece was winner of the Bay Area Playwrights Festival, and originally premiered at the 2014 Humana Festival for New American Plays.
