The Art Alive 2016 events continue in grand fashion with a new floral demonstration, led by Kika Shibata, a renowned instructor of Sogetsu Ikebana?the avant-garde form of the Japanese art of flower arranging. The demonstration will be a dazzling spectacle, highlighting the creative freedom of the art form and the relationship between humanity and nature.
Kika Shibata is the Branch Director of the South Bay Branch of Sogetsu San Jose and the Sogetsu North America West Coast Region Coordinator. She teaches ikebana classes throughout the Bay Area, in Sacramento, San Diego, Arizona, and Dallas, Texas.
Sogetsu Ikebana was founded in 1927 by Sofu Teshigahara who concluded that ikebana is a creative art that can take many forms and expressions. His premise was that "anyone can enjoy Sogetsu Ikebana anytime, anywhere, using any material."
