This is the final concert of the Passport to Worlds of Music series. This special music and lecture concert will introduce you to the sounds, aesthetics, and cultural significance of the music from Iran.
Music of Iran:
Kourosh Taghavi, master traditional musician from Iran and Center for World Music artist-teacher, will speak about different concepts in Persian classical music, focusing on the art of improvisation. Persian classical music consists of seven dastgah (modal systems) which have different intervals, characteristics, and emotions. He will improvise in one of the dastgah to demonstrate these artistic concepts.
This is a casual BYOB event. Feel free to bring refreshments for yourself and your friends.
