Alliance Fran?aise de San Diego is happy to invite you to "A Report on the Banality of Love", a play by Simon Diament. Interpreted by Andr? Nerman and Ma?a Gu?ritte.
The Parisian troupe Caravague will present the performance at the University of San Diego in the in Salomon Hall (Maher Hall). This play was performed in front of sell-out crowds during the entire Festival d?Avignon.
Germany, 1925, Martin Heidegger is a professor of philosophy at Marburg University. His student, Hannah Arendt is fascinated by his brilliance. In this defeated country, Nazi idealism is gaining ground. Hannah, a Jew, is scared and repulsed by Hitler?s ascent. Martin believes this political movement can bring about Germany?s revival and compromises himself with the Nazis, for a while. Despite this divergence between them, the lovers continue to see each other. From 1925 to 1950, we witness five encounters of these two gifted thinkers of the twentieth century, revealing their passionate and tumultuous relationship.
